The Role

The Marketing Intern will be is an essential member of the Marketing & Communications team. The position is responsible for the research and collection of industry and competitive information, the coordination of small to midsize events, and will assist in the development of sales collateral. The Marketing Intern keeps the 605 event calendar which includes industry conferences and events, speaking engagements, sponsorships, media buy placements, press releases, editorial calendars, social media (posts, blogs, white papers, etc.), and website updates.

Primary Responsibility

Responsible for assisting in the creation and coordination of all aspects of client presentations, sales material, sales initiatives and one-off projects, this position will research information relating to competitive analysis, product development, and strategic planning. The Marketing intern will also be responsible for organizing internal events and liaising with key department contacts - Client Solutions, Product, Data Solutions, Analytics, Technology, HR, Information Securities, Finance, consultants - associated with coordinating everything from department specific projects, to all hands urgent deliverables and interoffice events.

  • Coordinate the collection and distribution of daily news clips for Sr. Mgt, as well as related news to share with staff on Slack
  • Support sales team on prospect pitches that will include company research as related articles to pitch, updating sales deck, materials
  • Support day-to-day initiatives related to 605’s summer Think Tank event and other event support
  • Monitor social channels and trending news under the social media umbrella that will include competitive news. Maintain, capture and analyze social media metrics. Provide actionable insights on metrics
  • Research and collect industry/competitive news daily, around breaking news as well as in support of 605 press releases. Maintain competitive documents and website. Provide actionable tips and advice for expanding 605’s reach based on newly acquired information
  • Website management; maintain a cohesive presence online. Assist in creating, updating and publishing content with manager approval and monitor for inconsistencies
  • Manage portions of the internal communications portal, Homebase
  • Attend sales meetings and document sales needs to aid in creating materials and planning campaigns to support sales efforts
  • Assist in the creation of all sales collateral including; presentations, brochures, invitations, newsletters, website, case studies, one sheets and advertisements
  • Develop internal designs and layouts for our intranet, and regional and company-wide communications such as; fun outings and all-staff communications

Requirements

  • The successful marketing candidate will be enrolled full-time in a major university or college, studying Marketing, Communications, Design, Journalism and/or Creative Writing
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Proficient in the Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Familiar with Google Analytics and G Suite
  • Self-starter and strong team player with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to create calm from chaos are welcomed attributes
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills a plus
  • Social media knowledge a plus

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with cable, broadcast, digital and print advertising a huge plus
  • Ability to write persuasively in various tones and styles
  • Experience with keyword search and SEO best practices
  • Ability to balance information with relatability
  • Talent to turn the mundane and possibly the uninteresting into an epic adventure
  • Knack for encouraging users to take action
  • Capable of remaining consistent throughout written communications, presentations and the digital ecosystem
  • You should be able to switch gears and be nimble with strong project management skills
